This June Programmed Skilled Workforce CEO, Nic Fairbank will be participating in the 2017 Vinnies CEO Sleepout.
The Vinnies CEO Sleepout is a fundraising event attended by CEOs, business executives and community leaders, which involves sleeping ‘rough’ for a night to raise funds and awareness for people experiencing homelessness. I’ll be braving Melbourne’s winter for this worthy cause on 22 June 2017.
It’s a sad reality that an estimated 2.5 million people or 13.9% of all people are living below the poverty line in Australia, far from the standards of living so many of us have come to expect in our lucky country. Many people are forced to forego adequate food, clothing, education and other basic necessities, just to keep a roof over their heads. Others descend into crisis and end up sleeping rough on our streets.
Money raised from the CEO Sleepout goes to support the Vinnies Soup Van Program, a volunteer-run service which works across six locations in metropolitan, suburban and regional areas of Victoria to provide a nightly meal and conversation for people doing it tough.
Why did Nic want to get involved?
Our business is committed to supporting the communities in which we operate. Many of our offices are located in regional and remote areas where homelessness and poverty present an even greater challenge for those experiencing disadvantage and where access to services and secure housing can be even harder to attain.
The CEO Sleepout is Nic’s way of showing his support to all those in our community who are facing disadvantage.
How can you help?
The biggest way you can support the Vinnies CEO Sleepout is to donate and help us reach our goal to raise $5000 for this important cause.
