Founded in 1958, St John's Grammar School is a co-educational Anglican school situated in Belair in the Adelaide Hills, about 12 km south of the Adelaide city centre. It caters for students from Early Learning Centre through to Year 12.
With a history such as that of St John’s Grammar’s, presentation of the School takes on understandable import. For a streamlined means of doing this, the School engaged Programmed for multiple aspects of maintenance and improvements. This involved painting and landscaping work, as well as reinstatement projects for the School’s chapel pews and Performing Arts Centre stage floor.
Much of this work is done around school term breaks to accomplish as much as possible in short time frames as well as to avoid impacting daily life at the School.
Combining multiple site improvement and maintenance requests into an integrated solution by a single provider meant St John’s Grammar had to engage with only one point of contact at any given time. Programmed would then manage everything on behalf of the School.
In the Church Pew reinstatement project, Programmed collected thirteen pews that were located indiscriminately around the School grounds. The beauty of these pews had been lost through its everyday use as general seating by students. The pews were sanded, varnished and repainted; a process which restored their intrinsic grace and grandeur. This elevated the overall allure of the St John’s Grammar Chapel where the pews were returned to following their makeover. With the pews reinstated in their original home, the Chapel is now a charming site for events and weddings which St John’s Grammar can rent out.
The School greatly welcomed Programmed’s flexibility especially when it came to incorporating various requirements into the scope of the painting contract. This included the Performing Arts Centre stage floor repairs and re-paint. The quality of the work and our persistence in overcoming various issues surrounding the floor resulted in an outcome that exceeded St John’s Grammar expectations.
Outside and around the School, Programmed’s grounds team worked hard on landscaping work that provided St John’s Grammar with a cohesive presentation and a continuous level of appeal. The ‘hands-on and can do’ approach we demonstrated impressed St John’s Grammar’s Property Manager, Arthur Galantomos.
Kudos to Programmed, said Mr Galantomos, Property Manager
“I would like to extend our appreciation for the amazing work performed during the term break. A lot of work was squeezed into a short time frame. Everything that was thrown at the team was completed without fuss and in a professional manner.”
“Thank you for all your efforts … and for accommodating our many requests without fuss. Your hands-on and can do approach is appreciated. Nothing is too difficult for these guys.”
“It is truly all your hard work and dedication that has turned the presentation of the school around. I know from the discussions I’ve had with the Senior Management team and the School Board, they are amazed at how great the school is looking and excited about the changes we have implemented around here. Parents have also commented.”
