This harvest season we have hundreds of jobs on offer at GrainFlow’s storage centers across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia. We are hiring for the following roles:

No experience is necessary for most of our seasonal roles; if you are hardworking, reliable, a team player and willing to learn, you will fit right in!

• No experience is necessary for most of our seasonal roles
• The season typically starts in October, lasting up to 6 weeks depending on weather and location.
• Be prepared for potential long hours, up to 12 hours per day, and in some cases, working 6 out of 7 days.

• Conditions can get hot and dry with constant grain dust, but we provide respiratory and eye protection.
• Remote locations are common, sometimes as far as 100km from the nearest town.
• If you have friends, partners, or family you want to work with, please include this in your application so we can do our best to accommodate. 

For the safety and proper execution of tasks, all harvest employees should be able to:

• Comfortably bend, stretch, lift, carry, and climb.
• Stand for extended periods and work at heights with proper safety equipment.
• Navigate steel mesh walkways above ground level and work in confined spaces.
• Be prepared to work outdoors, in areas with high grain dust concentrations, and comply with our Sun Protection and Workplace Health and Safety Standards.

As a general guideline, it typically begins in October and concludes in January. Every season is unique, and various factors, including weather conditions and the timing preferences of growers for on-farm harvesting, influence the duration of harvest work. Consequently, the start and end dates of the harvest may differ from year to year and location to location.

All harvest employees will be paid under appropriate Enterprise Agreement/Award rates. The hourly rate will be determined by the specific role you are assigned. Harvest employees will be paid on a weekly basis.

Working hours fluctuate depending on the harvest conditions and weather. Shifts start at 4 hours may extend up to 12 hours. Occasionally there might be a requirement to work six consecutive days out of seven. Since GrainFlow’s operations run seven days a week, this might involve working on weekends and public holidays.

• Be at least 16 years and 9 months on 1 October 2023 for indoor positions
• Be at least 17 years and 9 months on 1 October 2023 for outdoor positions
• Be an Australian citizen or resident
• Hold a visa entitling you to work in Australia (eg Working Holiday visa subclass 417)

When you work for Programmed at Grainflow, ensuring your safety and delivering a great experience is our utmost priority. Our training includes an online program to introduce you to our procedures and safety rules for site. We'll also help you get familiar with the work site and its potential hazards. You'll be provided with the necessary protective gear (PPE), which you must wear at all times. On-the-job training will be available to improve your skills and teach you specific tasks. Additionally, we have a buddy system where experienced colleagues will support and guide you during your initial period. Our goal is to ensure your safety, provide adequate training, and make your harvest job enjoyable.

GrainFlow operates a network of 15 storage centres in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia. The focus of these operations has been the efficient and cost-effective receival, storage and outturn of grain and oilseeds.

In 2011 Cargill Australia acquired the GrainFlow storage and handling business and the AWB trading and origination arm from Agrium.

Cargill is a major marketer of Australian grain and oilseeds supplying our crush plants and flour milling requirements as well as domestic and international customers in the food process.
